We lived in the country and we kept seeing these four little orange kittens running around on the back of our property. We never did see a mother cat. I think she died. Then we started seeing only one kitten. We knew we had to find a way to catch her quickly. Luckily her drive for food saved the day.

As soon as we caught Willow we took her to the vet. She was only 5 weeks old, very weak and had a terrible eye infection. At the same time, I had a 13 yr old cat Tigger that I loved more than anything who was becoming very ill. Right after we rescued Willow, I had to make the devastating decision to put Tigger down. If it wasn’t for nursing Willow back to health, I don’t know how I would have gotten through it. I truly think Willow was heaven sent to me to help me through my loss.

As she got stronger, Willow started having long conversations with my husband and me. Still, that’s one of the highlights of our days. Willow is always waiting in the window for us. She talks to us and then leads us to her bowl for dinner. We can’t wait to get home each evening to see her and our older cat, Miss Kitty.

Even through my husband’s stressful job, and us both having struggles with COVID (he was off work for 3 weeks without pay when he had pneumonia), Willow made us, and continues to make us, laugh. Squealing in delight when we rub her belly, burrowing under the covers, getting excited watching her YouTube videos of chipmunks and squirrels”she’s a goofball!

But her health has always been a worry. Maybe because of her rocky beginnings. She’s had a chronic issue with her anal sacs getting completely clogged. When it happens she cries in the litter box. It breaks our hearts to see her in pain. It has resulted in lots of vet visits. Recently it got so serious there was a worry about them rupturing. She needed some specialized (expensive) lifesaving surgery. We didn’t know what we were going to do. We’d have been devastated if we’d had to put her down, knowing she could’ve been saved.

I cried when I found out you were going to help us. Now our baby is back to her normal, funny self. We still get to experience the best part of our day. Thanks to your donors our family is intact. I can’t thank you enough for saving our family and for all you do to help so many fur babies.
