Hi! I’m Takki! I’m the best dog my family has ever had. Well, OK, I’m also their only dog, but I think your first dog sets the bar. Don’t you agree?
I joined my family after my dog mom ran away, and the family that had us pups didn’t want us anymore. I was only 6 weeks old, so my new human mom and siblings had to bottle-feed me at first. I snuggled right into them when they did. It made us all really
connected right away!
I think I originally came to help my brother who struggles with some pretty big mental
stuff. He has trouble talking to people but he tells everything to me. He knows I’ll never judge him. I love him no matter what. Actually, I’m crazy about all four of my kids—and my Mom too.
You know, my sisters can’t sleep without me. And my mom loves it when I climb up behind her neck and start licking her face.
It was horrible for us all when my one sister didn’t see me, and she stepped on me. She felt terrible! I wanted to comfort her, but I was in too much pain to do anything but cry.
Mom was frantic. She was on the phone all day looking for help for me. I probably made it harder for her cuz I wouldn’t let her put me down. I couldn’t help it. I needed her. Once she tied that t-shirt to herself and carried me around in it like a sling, I felt less scared.
(Hey, don’t feel bad for her. I only weigh 1.9 pounds so it’s not like I’m a burden)
Anyway, thanks to this dog I never met—Ellie —mom was able to get me some help. Now I’m stylin’ with this cool pink splint on my leg. I look good, and I’m no longer
in pain. Life is good.
A message from Takki’s mom:
I knew as soon as the accident happened that Takki’s leg was broken (though I didn’t know BOTH bones were fractured). My kids were all so upset. I desperately called every vet in town, but no one would help us. I tried to raise some funds, but I’m on Social
Security and most of my money goes to caring for my disabled son.
