Luke is no longer in pain. He will likely be able to move normally and resume his kitten antics once he heals. That’s all thanks to generous people we don’t even know who use Ellie’s Fund as a way to help other families who love pets like they do. I’ve lived with pets since I was 5 years old. I can’t imagine life without them. Now, they are our kids. Through this troubling time in my life, by helping my fur baby, you are keeping me from being lonely. You are giving me a big dose of hope. Thank you. You are a Godsend.

Luke

Everything happens for a reason. Knowing that helps but life sometimes is still a challenge. I’ve had surgery to remove cancer from two places in my body in the last four months. Amidst all this my beloved 16 year old dog Benji died. And, in the last year, we have tragically lost 10 extended family members as well. Like I said, a challenging year.

My husband and I thought it was time to bring a new bit of unconditional love and companionship into my life. Enter a 13 week old purring machine we named Luke. Talk about a constant reminder that I am always surrounded by God’s love!

He came into the house purring and checking out every corner of his new abode. He has a big personality and he is fearless! Watching him that first day instantly lifted my spirits! (Does again now, thanks to you!) I can’t believe how quickly I fell hopelessly in love with him!

We spent the first hour following him and his new then-timid sister Lea, as they explored every corner of the house. They were doing great so we went downstairs to relax.

Then we heard it¦a terrible THUMP. I had a bad feeling. I ran to see what had made the noise and found my sweet Luke on the ground with his leg at a terrible angle. He had jumped”maybe trying to reach the window ledge across the way?”from our upstairs loft and had plummeted to the lower level.

I was so upset I thought I’d have a stroke. I just kept sobbing and repeating, œwe have to save him!. In just two hours I’d fallen hopelessly in love with this little guy and I needed him in my life. I just couldn’t face one more loss.

To make a long story short, we rushed to our vet who said Luke would need surgery from a specialist who was good with pediatric orthopedics. Oh man, that’s specialized and expensive. Thank God, they partner with Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund so they were able to refer us for immediate surgery with the specialist, and now he’s expected to make a full recovery!

He is no longer in pain. He will likely be able to move normally and resume his kitten antics once he heals.
