What did it mean to us that you made this surgery possible? The world! You saved our world. There aren’t words strong enough to say what this means to my family. I was going to try to mortgage my home to save her. But it wouldn’t happen fast enough. I am crying just typing this up. I truly feel like it’s a miracle. I am so beyond thankful to every single donor to your organization.

Indy

When we first brought Indy home as a puppy, she headed off and came back with our other dog’s food dish. Dropped it at our feet. And stared intently. Four years later she still carries around her empty dish to let us know when it’s feeding time. That’s our silly, loveable dog!

She is always there for us. Getting her at 4 months old pulled me out of a deep depression I’d been in since my Mom had died the year before. When my 18 year old son who’s on the autism spectrum is panicking, she stops his pacing by getting in the way until he stops and lays down with her. She even œsaved the 3-legged dog we fostered and then adopted by acting as his protector and teaching him how to be a dog. We can’t imagine life without her.

Indy makes our lives better simply by existing. She truly is the sweetest most loving dog. She brings laughter into our lives daily with her quirky personality. She senses if anyone is upset, or had a bad day and will cling to that person until their spirits are lifted. Get ready for 80 pounds in your lap until she believes you feel better. You simply cannot be sad when she is around you.

And boy have we needed her help! My wife has been off work and unpaid for six months due to a broken leg while on the job. I am a nurse and ended up being off work several times myself due to COVID. And then of course there are the challenges of raising a special needs teenager. As you can see, our Indy helps us get through a lot!

All of a sudden one day, our girl stopped her goofiness and her snuggling. She became incontinent. She was obviously in pain. We took her to emergency and they found a fatty mass the size of a grapefruit. She needed surgery in order to prevent the eventual blockage of all bathroom functions. Surgery¦expensive surgery. Without it she’d keep feeling miserable and probably eventually die.
