Thank you so much for all your help and mostly for what you do. If not for you, we would be dealing with a huge loss instead of lots of joy. Thank you, Ellie's Rainy Day Fund. We are forever grateful.
ROMEO'S FAMILY
Romeo is a real lover! My mother-in-law used to rescue abandoned kitties and my daughter brought him home from grandma’s. She said she picked him because he wouldn’t stop kissing her, so that’s how he got his name.
Romeo was her cat until she went away to college at which time he promptly bonded with my son. He’ll let my son do ANYTHING with him---twirl him around his waist; put him in a box & send him for a ride across the floor—they’re fun to watch together!
But Romeo also spreads his love around. Whenever anyone is sitting on the couch, he’s right behind them with his paw outstretched so he can touch their shoulder. He always wants to be in some kind of physical contact. And if we want him to come to us—we just pick up his nubby brush & he’s there like a shot. Sometimes I feel like my arm may fall off with all that brushing.
Romeo’s downfall? He’s scared of thunderstorms. He hides. His preferred location is a closet but this past May when there wasn’t one accessible, he hid under the recliner. You can guess what happened. The recliner was put down and it broke Romeo’s leg. We were frantic! When we took him to the ER, we discovered he was also hyperthyroid and had a heart murmur. I guess that was the silver lining. We found that out so we could treat it. But in the short term, it was a problem since it made doing surgery a scarier proposition.
Thankfully, the surgery was successful. Before we brought Romeo home, we completely cleaned out a small bedroom so he couldn’t hurt himself by jumping. Once Romeo came home, my son slept on the floor with him for six weeks.
NOW he’s racing around the house like a crazy cat! Every time he jumps we break into smiles from ear-to-ear!
Romeo is our baby. He’s an important member of our family. We were so afraid our finances were going to force us to say goodbye.
