Parker's Love Story

Parker was suffering. I want to give my animals everything I can, but I have a limited income. It was unbelievable to me when Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund said they would help. I was speechless. I just cried from joy. I had never even heard of this fund and here they are helping me out in time of need. I can’t thank the supporters of Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund enough for what they did for my sweet precious Parker. Thank you for giving me back my comfort, my baby. I appreciate it more than words can say.
In Parker's words...
It all started 4 years ago when I was 10 weeks old. I chewed this thingy my Mom plugged her phone into. Next thing I knew I was at this busy place with doctors peering down at me. I heard one say electrocution and he sounded worried. After that my head started kind of bobbing on its own. But I got used to it. After a couple of years, I got really tired and spaced out sometimes. More doctors. This time they said seizures.
Oh, sorry, guess I should introduce myself. I’m Parker—my Mom’s pride & joy. I joined my family when my Mom was just “coming along” with her sister whose Yorkie had been killed going for a walk. A pit bull got her after breaking its chain. Anyway, I was so adorable that when my Mom saw me, she had to have me. She called my Dad, but he said “no”. When he got home & found out Mom has actually listened, they ran right back over to get me.
Dad & Mom used to drive me & the rest of our pack every weekend to Indian Lake for walks. Then we’d all split McDonald’s fries on the way home. We had so much fun!

But then 2.5 years ago, my Dad died. We were all so sad, especially Mom. I knew my snuggling would be the best way to help her get through it. I still climb up to sit on her chest whenever she’s sitting down. I sleep between her legs at night. Well, except when I get hot & get her to let me out. But in a few minutes, I burrow back in. That’s what we do all night.
So anyway, fast forward to now. My teeth were hurting really bad & it made my head bob more. My friend Dr. Hapner said I would feel better if lots of teeth came out. But with my bobbing and seizures I needed to see a fancy doctor first to make sure I could “go under”.
Mom really wanted to help me but she’s by herself for money and she has constant pain and health bills too. So, Dr. Hapner contacted this Fund named for this dog Ellie and they paid for me to go. It turned out great! The tests were good so I came back and got 24 teeth out (& something done at the other end so I’d never become a Dad). I can still eat my dry food AND now it doesn’t hurt to do it!
A Note from Parker's Mom
I was terrified of losing my baby in surgery but if his mouth was left to keep getting worse, I would’ve lost him for sure. Dr. Hapner took amazing care of Parker and of me (with updates every half hour) in pulling him through. But he could only risk the surgery because of the specialist’s ultrasound and EKG paid for by Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund.
