Baron's Love Story

We were terrified when Baron was struggling to breathe. We rushed to get him help but we also knew we are facing huge medical bills for my husband and we were worried we couldn’t afford to save our baby. I was scared that if he lost Baron, my husband would lose his will to keep fighting his cancer. You can’t imagine what it was like to find out Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund was going to pay Baron’s bills. It felt like an angel came down from heaven. We can never thank you enough for keeping our family whole.

Baron's Mom

In Baron's words...

I’m Baron. I’m 1 years old. Everybody loves me! Just ask my human parents. They tell everyone I’m their youngest child. They said I looked like a fluffy puffball kitten at 10 weeks old when they brought me home. My five human siblings all live without dogs but they all come over to visit me cuz I’m “so darned cute”. What’s not to love, right?

I love everybody too. Especially my family. My Mom has fibromyalgia so sometimes she’s in pain. My Dad has had four cancer surgeries in the last six years. I just heard about most of them since I wasn’t born yet. But this one seemed especially hard on him. They had to take stuff out an`d now he can’t talk to me anymore.

But we don’t need to talk to share our love. I stay by both of their sides 24/7! I just cuddle in (my poodle sister Lucy does too) and I can feel their tension drain away.

So, when I started struggling so hard to breathe that I couldn’t properly cuddle, I was scared I would let them down. I know how much they need me right now.

Turns out it was from when I was getting puppysat (while Dad was having surgery). I reached under the couch to get my ball—why does that darn thing always end up under there anyway?---and my paw rubbed on an old rat trap. Nobody knew I’d been poisoned. Not even me!

Things got bad and Mom and Dad rushed me to the emergency vet. I heard the doc say my lungs were filled with blood. So, they gave me medicine and hooked me up to this machine that changed all my blood, or something like that.

Now I’m me again! I’m home and I’m making sure both my parents get lots of my attention. It feels so good to be able once again to give them all my love!
