Nugget’s Love Story

" I called everywhere looking for someone who would take payments.  I tried for Care Credit.  My sister did too.  It was looking like the only options were to take him home to die a painful death or have him put down.  Then the donors of Ellie's Fund saved the day.  He definitely would have died without you"

"Hi, I’m Nugget!  That’s cuz when my Mom got me for her birthday from my Aunt, I was a cute little nugget.  I was 10 weeks then.  Now I’m a year old.  I’m still adorable but a little bit bigger. Actually, about 10 times bigger!"

But hey, I’m still a cuddle bug.  I follow Mom everywhere she goes.  It gets a bit tight when we go in the bathroom but that just makes it easier to pet me.  With most visitors, I come and lay politely on their feet.  But when Mom pats her chest, I stand on my back legs and put one paw on each of her shoulders.  It’s the perfect hug since we each stand about 5 foot 3.

I’m proud of all I do for my Mom.  I’m a registered emotional support dog.  I help when she slips into depression—especially when she feels sad about not having kids.  She says I have very soft eyes and can make her smile anytime I give her “the look”.  She calls me her son.  That makes me feel special!

I’ve got to admit though, I’m still a puppy!  It’s my job to chew everything.  It didn’t go so well when I ate the throw rug AND the plastic bottom to my crate.  In a couple of days, I couldn’t eat.  I kept throwing up.  And worst of all, I worried my Mom because I just didn’t have the energy to cuddle.

I heard her say it was all her fault for going to work and leaving me alone.

A MESSAGE FROM NUGGET’S MOM:

I called everywhere looking for someone who would take payments.  I tried for Care Credit but couldn’t get it.  My sister did too on my behalf.  It was looking like the only options were to take him home to die a painful death or have him put down.   But he’s my son.  He’s only one year old, and surgery could save him.

And that’s what you donors of Ellie’s Fund did.  He definitely would have died without you. Now he’s home recuperating but soon I know he’ll be back to his goofy dog ways.  Thank you for saving my sweet Nugget.  Thank you for keeping my family whole.
