It’s amazing to us that so many people care about us and other dog families and give money to Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund to keep sad things from happening. Marlin has made such an impact on our lives, and now so have you. I honestly wouldn’t know what to do without him. Thank you for keeping us from having to find out.
Marvin’s Mom
Marlin
We canceled our honeymoon so we would have more funds and more time to learn how to properly take care of our fur baby.
You see, we have the warmest, most cuddly, happiest dog around! We got Marlin because our senior dog needed a buddy who would challenge him to be more active. He has not only been a blessing for our senior dog but is such a blessing for us as well.
His nickname is sunshine, because he truly brightens our day. I suffer with
anxiety and he helps me get to my happy spot no matter how bad my day has been. When I get anxious, he lays on my lap and works his head under my hand. His love is unreal. I am truly lost without him. In fact, I never would have survived my recent journey to lose 85 pounds without Marlin. Want to know how to do it yourself? Get a Labrador!
When Marlin started vomiting and got increasingly lethargic we got worried. But then when he wouldn’t eat for five days, I completely fell apart and felt so lost. We headed for the emergency vet where they initially thought he had an obstruction. Nope. Two more vets later, someone ran a blood test and said without immediate hospitalization, Marlin would likely die by morning! We rushed again to an ER, where this time a consulting specialist diagnosed him with Addison’s disease.
Now we have something to work with. We are overwhelmed but certainly prepared to go through this journey with him. Already we’re seeing a difference. He’s getting back to taking care of his pack. Anytime anyone’s food dish is empty, he brings it to us to let us know. When I cry, he again paws me to let me know he’s with me. And remember the senior dog that was our motivation for getting him? The one who acts annoyed to have Marlin around? Well, he was SO EXCITED when Marlin came home! His tail went into overdrive and he danced all around.
We went to several vets and paid for many tests to try to get our happy boy back. We took out Care Credit and like I said, even canceled our honeymoon. But in the end it still wasn’t going to be enough.
