Jolene’s Love Story

“Defeat and heartbreak became hope and overwhelming gratitude when we found out the donors of Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund were going to save our girl. You are the light in one of my rainiest days. Thank you. God bless you.”

Jolene’s Family

Our sweet pup moved in and instantly became the grandkids’ protector.  And my husband’s rehab companion (we had almost lost him to a double heart attack).  AND, my sanity provider.  Even on my toughest days, when she lays her head in my lap, whatever is stressing me doesn’t seem so bad anymore.  She’s a 100+ pound lap dog!

During COVID, when our youngest daughter was going stir crazy with the isolation of online classes, she spent LOTS of time teaching Jolene tricks.  Jolene’s a pro at high-fives, shakes, downs, and speaking.  But most of all, she’s an expert at making friends.  EVERYBODY in the neighborhood loves our social butterfly.

When her problems started, she became less playful and stopped socializing.  We thought it was just because she’d turned three and was getting chill.

The day she went out into the yard, laid down, and wouldn’t move was a nightmare. It took my husband, two of my daughters, and me carrying her in a blanket to get her into his Silverado. Have you ever had to rush a loved one to the ER?

Yes, I was crying. I was frantic. It didn’t get any better when the emergency vet told us she had Addison’s disease and wouldn’t make it without a stint in the ICU. That’s big bucks. We work our butts off but we’re a blue collar family. We were going to have to say goodbye.
