Scooby's Love Story

“To have our boy saved by dog lovers we don’t even know was unbelievable.  Every one of you who donates is a guardian angel.  We are grateful beyond words.  It would have been a disaster for our family to have lost our Scooby.  We will donate our Christmas bonus for the rest of our life to pass on the blessing you have given to us.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

A Message from Scooby's Family...

scooby, puppy, adorable

What do you do when you’re a 5 month old puppy with a new stuffingless Christmas toy?  Well of course, you eat it!  Unfortunately, this sometimes turns out to be fatal.

That’s where things were headed for our Scooby.

It all started months before when we had an “oops” with our two beloved Great Danes.  9 weeks later our family had grown to 15.  Yes, 13 puppies!  Scooby was our first born and from the moment he entered the world, he both looked and acted like Scooby Doo. We knew instantly he was ours to keep.

We bonded with all these pups quickly and deeply because two days after they were born, their mother was hospitalized with a uterine infection. That meant that WE were feeding and cleaning the newborns every 2 hours round the clock.  I’ve never before felt so exhausted, yet so in love.

Even then, there was just something about Scooby.  He is most definitely our soul puppy.  He’s gotten us through some very tough times and he brings constant smiles to our faces.

For example, Scooby loves his snacks and food. Every day at meal time, he will sit on his hind legs and just bounce while I get his food together. Next, he runs to his cage and sits, tail thumping back and forth, until I put it down. Then he just gobbles it as fast as he can. You'd think we never feed him even though he gets 9 cups a day! After everything, he'll come crawl up in our laps and snuggle in for cuddles and kisses. He does this every day at every meal time.

Then recently we found ourselves wondering if our goofy, cuddly, bundle of joy was going to survive.

It was terrifying.

We couldn’t afford the surgery that was the only thing that would save his life.  We tried calling everywhere but since it was the MLK Holiday, nowhere was open.

The next day would’ve been too late.

My Dad had just died 8 days before, and all our cash had been spent on the funeral. It was so hard for me to lose my Dad. We couldn’t lose our Scooby too.

To have our boy saved by dog lovers we don’t even know was unbelievable.  Every one of you who donates is a guardian angel.  We are grateful beyond words.  It would have been a disaster for our family to have lost our Scooby.  We will donate our Christmas bonus for the rest of our life to pass on the blessing you have given to us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
