My daughter and I couldn’t imagine our family without Kitty! She’s such an anchor of calm and source of unconditional love. So when the vet told us that Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund would pay for her surgery, we couldn’t believe that our baby would be saved—that our family would still be together! Everyone involved with Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund is a blessing! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
PURRSEPHONE'S MOM
When I got home from work one night, I went to get some much needed rubbing & purrs from my sweet girl, Purrsephone (aka, “Kitty”). As I petted her, my hand came away covered in blood!
I tried not to panic as I rushed her to our vet. Diagnostics indicated that Kitty had a dark lymph node & a mass in her rectum. Action from a veterinary surgeon was needed right away! But we couldn’t afford that. Were we going to have to let her go?
All I could think of was 8 years ago when my then 12 year old daughter and her grandmother chose Kitty to join our family. One of the things my daughter & her grandma share is a deep love of animals, so they volunteered together at the animal rescue where Purrsephone was found.
When she first came home, Kitty didn’t want much human contact. In fact, we called her “skiddy kitty.” But she had a hard belly (from having had a litter of kittens before she was rescued) that the vet said needed to be softened with stroking, and over time she learned to love our touch. Now she’s a cuddle machine—rubbing her face on us and purring up a storm.
Anyway, my daughter and I couldn’t imagine our family without her! She’s such an anchor of calm and source of unconditional love. So when the vet told us that Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund would pay for Kitty’s surgery, we couldn’t believe that our baby would be saved—that our family would still be together! Everyone involved with Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund is a blessing! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
