Luna always knows when we’re sad and can cheer us up. She makes everyone smile. She helps me get through the stresses of being in nursing school—especially with everything that’s happening right now! Luna is our best friend and does everything with us. I can’t imagine a life without her. Thanks to the animal lovers who support Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund, I won’t have to. You’ve kept our family together and we will be forever grateful!
Luna's Mom
My name is Luna. Don’t you think that’s a pretty name? Me too! I got it because I was adopted on a full moon! It’s one of the gifts I got when my Mom & Dad picked me as the special one from my brothers and sisters. I heard my Mom tell the lady who was caring for us that her grandparents had always had chocolate labs so I made it my mission to remind her of all the love she shared with them and their dogs when she was growing up. When she picked me up to check me out, I laid my head on her shoulder and snuggled in. I knew right then I was going to go home with my new family.
Once I joined my new family, I fit right in. I do everything with my folks. We hike, canoe, play in the snow. I sleep on top of them and make sure to take most of the king sized bed. Oh yah, and I have a little sister! She’s fun to play with too. Our folks crack up sometimes watching our antics. And that makes me smile.
But all of a sudden, I felt like I had to stop playing. The inside of my mouth felt like a tennis ball was stuck in there. But I hadn’t picked one up. I could barely eat anything; I was drooling; and all I wanted to do was sleep. I could tell Mom & Dad were worried. The first doctor they took me to thought I’d been stung by a bee. But the thing in my mouth kept getting bigger. Pretty soon it felt to me like I was growing a soccer ball! Then this fancy doctor said I needed surgery to cut it out. That sounded scary but I just wanted it gone so I’d feel like cuddling and playing again.
It just got taken out and I feel soooo much better! I heard my folks saying that I’m already getting back to myself. I think they’re right! I can’t wait to get back to my duties of being the sweetest, most playful dog around!
