Layla's Love Story

I just can’t imagine what we would do without Layla’s unconditional love. We feel so blessed to have Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund help us. You are angels from God. We would’ve been lost without you!
A Letter from Layla's Mom
Layla is the glue that holds us all together. Without her support, I don’t know how we would get through the rough spots in life.
Layla was the runt of the litter of some neighborhood pups, and it just seemed like no one else wanted to take a chance on the little bug-eyed sweetie. I knew she was special; something about how adoring she looked just made me think she would be the perfect fit for me.

I struggle with Lupus and Fibromyalgia. Some days I get so frustrated with the limitations and symptoms. Having Layla nearby makes my days better and gives me the push I need to keep myself going day-to-day.
Layla is also an important support dog to my elderly mother. She has the ability to make my mom smile with such pure joy! And when my nephew came to live with us after his mom died, he instantly bonded with Layla as well. She helps fill the void and ease the pain of his loss.
The confidence inspired by our feisty pup helps us all to stay positive, even when life throws new challenges at us.
She has a big personality for being such a small dog. She’s sweet, but also a bit cocky! In the morning, she likes to talk to us. She makes quite a racket until we get up for morning coffee! She is the boss, and she makes sure we all know who should be getting the most affection and attention. She even gets visitors from all over the neighborhood who come to say hi.
We were shocked when our other dog (who thought she was protecting her new pups) attacked Layla and we saw the extent of her injuries. She had just wanted to say hi to the pups. Her nose was bleeding, and the inside of her mouth was torn up as well. She ended up needing stitches for deep cuts on her tongue, and gums and pain meds as well!
We’ve been through a lot recently including suffering from the recent tornados in Dayton. I broke my finger, and everyone suffered a huge scare. Layla is our therapy and PTSD support dog. Her emergency medical care was going to be a huge blow after so many recent hardships
