I remember your kindness each time he sits in the front window watching for me to come home and Kitty Jr. runs to greet me. It fills me with joy. Thank you for saving my sweet boy. Thank you for preventing loneliness.

I’ve always lived with pets. The house is empty without a fur baby to welcome you home. Having someone be excited whenever you enter a room and cuddle with you feels great. In fact, I think animals are better than people sometimes.
But after I lost my Kitty Sr., I decided that since I was 75 years old, it wasn’t fair to get a new cat. After all, what if they outlived me?
Still, I was lonely. Until one night, I came home from a day of working to improve the health of folks who couldn’t afford much health care—pulled into my garage—and heard a thump. Oh shoot, I thought there must be a raccoon in here.

Then I heard a small meow. I discovered a badly injured, tiny kitten. He was hungry and cold and needed attention. He had my heart in a nanosecond!
That’s how Kitty Jr. chose me. For me, it was love at first sight. For him, it took a little longer. He was very wary of all people. I can only imagine what his life was like before we found each other.
Now that he has a loving home, he has blossomed. This cat runs the house—as it should be when you have 'kids'. He loves to knock things over. He sleeps on the mantle, so I’ve learned not to put knick-knacks up there. He clears my bedside table, so I hide the lamp under the bed and pull it out when I am ready to read.
I can’t begin to describe how frantic I was when I was awakened at 3 am to find him in horrible pain and unable to use one leg. I was battling the flu. But that didn’t matter when I saw how he was suffering.
After rushing him to Medvet, I sat there sick and scared to death. I just started to cry. I live on Social Security. Kitty Jr. was so severely hurt that his leg needed to be amputated. I had no idea where I would get that kind of money. I was heart-sick.

Here’s where I get to tell you what a miracle you are. Every single one of you who donates. Thank you for being so kind to an old lady. I have cried for days—this time out of gratitude. I would be lost without my boy.
