A message from Mom:
If not for you donors of Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund, I would have lost the love that keeps me going. She had stopped interacting with me. She was obviously in pain. The vet said
she had a life-threatening infection in her uterus. She wasn’t going to make it much
longer.
Kimber saved my life. Literally.
Three years ago, she started coming up to me and trying to force her muzzle into my mouth. WHAT was she doing? It annoyed me but eventually I decided to do the best I could to look inside my mouth. Under my tongue, there was a round white circle.
It was cancer. The dentist I saw said Kimber had likely smelled the cancer. If it hadn’t been removed immediately, it would’ve spread to the lymph node. Thank goodness she kept telling me until I finally listened!
She came into my daughter and my lives when we answered an ad on Facebook for chocolate lab puppies. My daughter chose Kimber because her tale shook (like she was ticklish) every time she petted her back.
The sellers wanted her gone so they could leave on vacation. So she joined our family at 6 weeks old. She needed a surrogate mom. She bonded to me instantly. She followed me everywhere—still does! She’s your basic 85-pound lap blanket.
Currently, I’m slowly recovering from my fifth back surgery. On top of that, due to a recent fall in the driveway, I’ve lost my front teeth. I live in constant, excruciating pain.
Thank God for Kimber. She is my best friend in the entire world. She brightens my day every day. She always comes to lick my tears off my cheeks when I am sad and in pain. She helps my depression. I am happy when she is by my side. Without her I would probably not be here any longer. I tell her I love her every day several times a day.

How could I have gone on without my best friend? It still makes me cry to think that I almost had to end the life of the dog who saved mine. Thank you for saving Kimber’s life. In doing so, you have saved mine as well.
