We are so grateful for your donors. You have such big hearts to provide funds for these kinds of life and death emergencies. You are such a blessing to our family. Because of you, Kash was able to stay in the ICU long enough to have sufficient transfusions to raise and maintain his level of red blood cells. Every day his personality comes back a bit more. - Kash's mom
Kash was rapidly deteriorating, and he needed serious medical intervention immediately!
My kids, my husband, and I were all devastated by the very real fear that we were going to lose our sweet 4 yo rescue pup. The sunshine and rainbows of our lives. Our “Buddy the Elf” dog who loves everyone he meets. Our stage 5 clingy Velcro pup. Our sometimes- unexpected shower companion. Yes, he gets impatient when you leave him to do your grooming. And he loves
water, so…

We have four children between the ages of fifteen and four. The three youngest all face difficult medical challenges. Kash is vital to helping each one of them through their struggles.
For example, our four-year-old uses oxygen when she is sick. Kash ALWAYS stays by her side when she is getting breathing treatments. He sooths her like no one else can.
But all of a sudden, he wasn’t there.
Not only is Kash important to the humans in our family, but Kash has a special relationship with our almost 4-year-old rescue dog, Kona. I never truly understood what a “bonded pair” meant until I watched Kona crumble (stop eating, drinking, and interacting). If we lost Kash, for all intents and purposes, Kona would be gone too.

We were frantic. We just couldn't afford all the human medical bills plus Kash’s. The grief felt by each member of our family was crushing.
But then our vet reached out to Ellie’s Rainy-Day Fund. We are so grateful for your donors. You have such big hearts to provide funds for these kinds of life and death emergencies. You are such a blessing to our family. Because of you, Kash was able to stay in the ICU long enough to have sufficient transfusions to raise and maintain his level of red blood cells. He is now home and his levels are slowly climbing.
Every day his personality comes back a bit more. He has resumed clinging to us. He is carrying his ball. My kids are thrilled to have their best friend back. Kona has resumed eating and drinking. And, Kash has returned to lounging on his favorite spot— the middle of the coffee table. It’s as if he is reassuring us, he has reclaimed his role in the middle of our family!
