A message from Luna's Family:
Luna needed help to save her life again, just as she saved mine.
That’s where you wonderful people came in. I can’t believe you don’t even know us but
here you are saving our family. Thank you. You and Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund are such
blessings.
Lu’s former “owner” called me up the night after I inquired about her on a pet rehoming site. He said if we didn’t come and get her, he was going to have her euthanized.
We drove 5 hours to go rescue her. We think she’d been spending her life outside. The elderly gentleman who had her explained his daughter had had two kids back-to-back so he’d gotten stuck with her. He didn’t want her in the house because she’d get things dirty.
She was only 2 years old! She was scared. She was neglected. And she was about to have her life ended through no fault of her own. So we took her.
That was the best decision of my life. Lu is incredibly sweet and smart. She senses my emotions and jumps to my rescue. There are times I really struggle with depression—and anxiety. Lu just knows. She climbs on my chest and keeps me still until I calm down.
I’ll never forget the first time I brought her on the couch to cuddle me. She freaked out. She hadn’t been allowed on the couch in her last home. She’d never had a toy before either. You should have seen the amazement in her eyes when we first brought her home. My daughter dumped a whole container of dog toys around her. Once she understood she could, she tried the squeakers in every toy. She still makes me laugh when she proudly carries around lambchop (her favorite!)
I was panicked when her foot got caught in her sweater so she landed wrong when she rolled off the bed. She was obviously in lots of pain. And then when our vet said her leg was severely broken and she’d need to see a surgeon to get it repaired, I cried.
I couldn’t believe this sweet girl was finally having a good life and now it was going to end. What a tragedy. And what would I do without her? I need her to keep my emotions even.
Luna needed help to save her life again, just as she saved mine.
