Thanks to you, he’s getting what he needs. You are there for all of us. Though his leg had to be amputated, they tell us that he will be racing around again in just a few short weeks. He’s out of agony. He is beginning to cuddle and take care of us again. And it’s all because of you.
It was a beautiful sunny day.
I was enjoying being stretched out in the garden with my human mom. Minding my own business. Kind of dozing in our backyard.
All of a sudden, the killer bulldog who lives next door charged into our yard and attacked me. I tried to get away, but he grabbed my leg in his jaws and crushed it. Mom started screaming. I somehow managed to crawl under the house.
I laid there, waiting to die. The pain was excruciating.

My human dad crawled under the house to bring me out and tend to me. They rushed me to this big emergency place but the people there said they couldn’t do much for me because we didn’t have enough money. I could tell mom and dad felt just terrible. I was so sad for them. It wasn’t their fault!
That bulldog has killed two cats in our neighborhood already. So, I was sure I was about to be next. But I wasn’t ready to leave my family. They need me.
My seven-year-old human brother is a “cat whisperer.” He’s very proud of our relationship. I am too. We sleep cuddled every night.
I’ve heard my mom say that my 16-year-old human brother is “on the Spectrum “, whatever that means. All I know is that he really likes me and interacts with me. He doesn’t with anybody else. And I love that. He needs me and I need him.
Oh, and then there’s my mom, who’s gone through lots of really hard and scary stuff. My dad says she has “complex PTSD.” I help her feel safe and grounded And I bring out the soft side of my dad. That doesn’t happen with everyone, you know.
So basically, I’m just a big squishy, cuddly, teddy bear. But I’m also a warrior getting through what it takes to survive this attack.

A message from Jeff’s family:
We felt so guilty that we didn’t have the money to help our sweet jeff. He’s always been there for us when we’ve been wounded. We wanted desperately to be there for him. Thanks to you, he’s getting what he needs. You are there for all of us. Though his leg had to be amputated, they tell us that he will be racing around again in just a few short weeks. He’s out of agony. He is beginning to cuddle and take care of us again. And it’s all because of you.
Although this experience has been awful, it’s also reminded us of the good that still exists in people. We couldn’t afford a car and didn’t have any way to get our sweet boy to the vet. Our neighbors have rallied around and helped us to get him to his treatments. And then, of course there’s all of you who have made the treatments possible. We are forever grateful that our family is once again whole.
