Charlie’s Love Story

We had just brought Charlie home from the emergency vet after surgery for an obstruction. Wanting to give him a little fresh air, I decided to take him for a short walk.

On that walk, Charlie found a corn cob left behind by a squirrel. I didn’t think he ate much of it…but apparently, he did. Before we knew it, we were right back at the ER… facing yet another emergency surgery.

Charlie had a rough start. That’s likely why he eats whatever he finds. He started in a puppy mill and was adopted by a family with a severely disabled child. The husband died in a work related accident and it was left up to the wife to take care of Charlie and the child. Charlie spent a large amount of time in his cage for a couple of years until he was surrendered.

“I don’t know what I would have done had it not been for you supporters of Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund. Through it all, I just kept thinking about how much Charlie makes me laugh. He gets so excited when he sees me that he spins in circles wrapping the rug up into a complete twist. He sleeps right next to me in bed with his head on the pillow, and of course, I would have deeply missed my 100-pound counter surfer. Not to mention, who would have cleaned all of the pets food bowls?!”

Thank you. You turned a potential tragedy into many more years of joy and happiness together.
