Without Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund, we would have had to let Diamond go. I just can’t find the words to express how thankful, grateful and truly blessed we are. Without your help not only would we have lost our little girl, but our family would have been missing a very important member becoming incomplete. Not only have you saved me, you have saved OUR FAMILY.

A Letter From Diamond’s Mom:

My husband and I don’t have any human kids. Our three cats ARE our children…our family! They mean everything to us.

I’m currently on disability due to severe depression and anxiety. It’s very hard for me to leave the house. My therapist has declared my babies emotional support animals. They are a huge part in my everyday therapy along with being my sweet babies. Diamond calms me and her cuddles let me know everything is going to be OK.

My husband always supported us financially. A year ago he was permanently taken off work from his job of 16 years that he loved. This was due to a form of crippling arthritis that will never let him work again. This drastically changed our life and had a huge impact on us in so many ways. Some days he has to be in a wheelchair and requires assistance.

We have struggled, but we still try to put our fur kids first no matter what we are going through. So when Diamond stopped roaming the house being fierce kitty as she talked with her toy in her mouth, and quit bringing her tweety bird onto the bed in the middle of the night, and was not as active with her sisters, we started thinking something was wrong and began looking for some help.

I called everywhere, but we’re on a very small fixed income and none of the vets would do a payment plan. There were no friends or family members who could help. Meanwhile, Diamond was crying all the time, she couldn’t stand still and she dropped from 10 pounds to 5. I began to panic. I thought, I am going to lose my baby girl, I got to help her some way. So I started researching on the internet. I thought it was worms so we saved up and bought medication to treat that”twice! But she was not improving.

I called several places looking for some type of help to get her seen. Every phone call did not get me any closer to getting Diamond help. Until we got referred to Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund. It was an answer to our prayers. Our eyes filled with tears and hearts filled with hope that our little girl was going to be ok. She was finally getting seen. Dr. Lockhart at Miami Valley Animal Hospital quickly figured out Diamond was hyperthyroid. She said it was common in older kitties. We worked it out to be able to afford the medication she needs.

But without Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund to pay for the tests, we wouldn’t have known what she needed, and we would’ve had to– as hard as it would be to make that choice– let her go. I just can’t find the words to express how thankful, grateful and truly blessed we are. Without your help not only would we have lost our little girl, but our family would have been missing a very important member becoming incomplete. Not only have you saved me, you have saved OUR FAMILY.
